In 2018, Liberia Institute of Statistics and Geo-information Services(LISGIS) released a report that shows the poverty rate of 50.9% as well as 39.1% food poverty.
The report also revealed household food shortage at 51.2%( urban 44%, rural 59%). The report also shows that the southeast is food insecure
The data show that our food security is under threat and something must be done. What need to be done must include the participation of all Liberian.
We must act as a country and people to keep the peace by having food accessible, affordable and efficient for our survivability..
We call on the national government and citizens to see the agriculture sector as a hope for reducing food prices and improvements of livelihood of the poor population...
Let us feed us by increasing our private and public investment in agriculture and agribusiness...
